Step 2 — Financing

Step 3 — Permitting

At Venture Custom Pools, we maintain a full and dedicated staff whose sole responsibility it is to get you a permit as quickly as possible. The whole process only takes a couple of weeks: it starts with a thumbs up from your local electric company, and is followed by a quick trip to the local city government and any necessary neighborhood authorities.

Step 4 — Construction

Once everything else is ready, we’ll set you up with an appointment with one of our professionals to get the installation process started.

We’ll first paint a rendering of the pool on the ground to make sure it’s the size and shape you want, and that it fully meets your vision. Then we’ll excavate the hole, and launch into the building process that usually takes from four to six weeks (depending on the options and amount of customization you’ve chosen).

During this time, Venture Custom Pools will have many people working behind the scenes to make this process as smooth and painless as possible. This means schedulers (so you can know exactly when you can expect crews to be working on your property), plus superintendents, service techs and managers all overseeing every element of construction.

Pool Resurfacing

The best way to do this, of course, is a winter pool resurfacing.

Every swimming pool will need a bit of a facelift eventually — even high-quality, well-constructed pools like Venture’s own. Any number of elements can lead to cracks and wear spots in the pool’s plaster and tile, including pool settling, earth movement, tree roots and water chemicals (not to mention general wear and tear). Resurfacing and re-tiling your pool protects your investment and boosts its long-term value.

So let’s look at some three types of swimming pool resurfacing options:

• Traditional Re-Plastered Pool Surfaces

This is the most common type, especially if you have an older pool. Most plaster refinishes are white, but can come in a wide rainbow of colors. Resurfacing your pool with a traditional plaster coating ensures the highest level of consistency with your pool’s current or originally intended look.

• Advanced Pebble and Quartz Pool Refinishing Coatings

If you take typical plaster and mix in a quartz aggregate, you get an advanced quartz refinishing coating. This can do two things to your pool: Quartz can add a hardness that other materials can lack, protecting your pool for up to 15 years. Quartz finishes also come in a wider variety of colors than traditional plasters. Pebbles can also added to mixes, providing an extra element of stain resistance and durability to the plaster.

• Specialty Polished Marble Pool Finishes

Specialty polished marble finishes combine high-quality marble aggregates with colored quartz and cement to create a hard, smooth, attractive blend for your pool. Marble finishes can create some of the most naturally beautiful finishes in the industry.

Say No to Debris

Consider a cover. Covers are simple, easy and keep out debris. All types and ranges of covers are available, including custom-made covers for those of you with pools shaped like Cowboys Stadium. As an added benefit, covers also trap in heat, keeping the pool usable and heating bills low if you’re planning on occasional winter dips.

Pay attention. Even if you’re not using your pool regularly, it doesn’t mean it won’t still require attention (even if not to the same degree you’d give it during the summer). Winter means falling leaves and clogged filters while you’re inside by the fire.

Chemistry Matters

The wrong chemical balance in your pool can lead to staining and etching on the pool’s surface over time. They key is keeping pH, total alkalinity and calcium hardness at their proper levels. You can add a winterizing chemical kit, which will help keep the water clean and clear until spring arrives again. Avoid “floaters” and chlorine tablets, as both can stick to and damage the walls of your pool over time.

Stop Freezing

You might have dealt with frozen pipes before. Water expands when it freezes, which can crack pipes and equipment. To avoid this, lower your pool level below the skimmer mouths, and remove the water from your plumbing lines using an industrial blower or vacuum. Finally, drain all the water out of your filter equipment.
